"The first ever handbound book I can remember holding in my hands was the book given to me by Ilira, my then girlfriend (And now wife!), for my 23rd birthday. We've just received a new line of beautiful jewelry by Rebecca Beaudoin. The Philadelphia native has worked over the years as a fashion designer, but recently decided to start her first foray into jewelry when she couldn't find a colorful accessory to compliment her neutral wardrobe. The collection features delicate sterling silver and 14kt gold filled chains paired with a grown up version of a material the designer says is very reminiscent of her childhood: pony beads. Rebecca's beads were sourced from a now defunct Czechoslovakian manufacturer and are actually glass instead of the plastic ones she used as a crafty kid. We love the juxtaposition of materials and think the look is all together quite sophisticated. And for the color shy, the designer offers solid black beads mixed with beautiful gold helix crystals.

Have you ever heard of Deyrolle in Paris? I have always wanted to visit this fantastical museum/store housing a plethora of taxidermy animals, bug & butterfly specimens, minerals, and other amazing objects from nature.
In early 2008 a fire ripped through the beloved store which had been in business since 1831. The Cabinet of Curiosities was virtually destroyed, along with a large portion of their entomological and historical collections. Luckily, sympathetic patrons and fans such as the French label, Hermes, came together to fund the rebuilding and replacement of the space and its valuable contents.

Petulia's Folly just came out with a limited edition private label collection of linens.

On a recent trip to Africa, our buyer scoured Zanzibar for the most interesting & vibrant cotton fabrics which were all hand printed by locals. They were brought back here to the states where a local Philadelphian transformed them into napkin sets and tablecloths.

We think they are just perfect for summer BBQs or picnics, and indoor dining,too. Either way, you are sure to have a unique sitting because these colorful cloths are one-of-a-kind!

Trying to stay awake Thursday night for "Sex and the City 2" was worth the wait. While I felt the actual clothing was minimalistic compared to the show and first film, it was the accessories that made a statement -they were simply eye candy to all the girls in the theater.
However, I did notice that Carrie wore a T Alexander Wang muscle T in one scene. It just showed the designer's ever growing influence in the fashion world. I especially love how they paired the basic top with a pleated mini skirt and high pumps making Carrie look ultra-comfy yet fashionable.

One of Philadelphia’s most popular spring events, the annual Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival, attracted more than 50,000 people from across the region to Rittenhouse Square last Saturday. It represented businesses in Rittenhouse by showcasing their products, food, music, fashion, arts and entertainment. Finding great fitting jeans is hard; finding skinny jeans can be even harder. We were so relieved that James Jeans constructed the perfect skinny denim, the "twiggy," which looks like jeans but feels like leggings. Our sales associate Rachel says she's never tried on skinny jeans more comfortable and ever since she got them, she has been ignoring all of her other pairs!
Since we think you'll feel the same way, we ordered lots of different Twiggy washes for the spring season and they just arrived in the shop. Test them out for yourself in a rainbow of shades from light denim to dark.

As part of our spring web shoot, we put together a “lookbook” as a way to show how you can wear all of our pieces together. Petulia’s Folly always likes to layer, but this year we wanted to go with more drama by playing with proportions. We styled Hanii Y’s oversized scrunch collar coat with T Alexander Wang’s fitted terry tank dress and loved how the fit of each piece balanced out the entire look. We also loved the way the beaded cropped cardigan exaggerates Clu’s maxi dress for maximum impact. The Petulia's Folly's girls took a trip to the movies to see a Korean film, Le Grand Chef 2: Kimchi Battle, which is about a food competition based on their traditional dish, kimchi. You'll be desperately hungry for some Korean food after watching this movie and that was just what we did. To our luck, there was a Asian market close by, where we had our own Korean feast with kimchi soup, grilled kimchi with pork on fresh tofu, and bulgoji. Just thinking is making me hungry again!
